Purpose of the pathway
The KS2 Engage Springboard Pathway is intended to support any pupil who;
- Are attending a mainstream setting but their presenting behaviour is becoming a barrier to them accessing a full mainstream educational offer.
- Has previously been in receipt of strategies implemented by the mainstream setting, which have not had the impact required.
Timescales
The KS2 Engage Springboard is a fractional pathway; 3 days (Monday – Wednesday) based at a Raedwald Trust setting, then 2 days (Thursday and Friday) attending their mainstream setting. The length of Pathway is 19-weeks, not inclusive of school holidays. All pupils on admission will have access to our own Assessment Centre provision, where specialist staff will complete induction activities to ensure the needs of the pupils are accurately captured.
Curriculum
Due to the fractional nature of the placement, Raedwald is not able to deliver the entirety of the Primary National Curriculum. Students will receive a daily diet of English, Maths, Literacy and Reading. With foundation subjects being delivered around this. Each student will have access to a swimming lesson each week as well as a further on-site PE lesson. PSHE is both explicitly taught twice over the three days and also interwoven through all aspects of the Raedwald Provision. Through the agreement set out in the Dual Placement Agreement with the home school, mainstream settings are aware that the responsibility of exposing each pupil to statutory entitlement sits with them.
Assessment
If/when the Assessment Centre identifies significant gaps, this will be fed back to the home-school SENCo who may direct intervention to be delivered by Raedwald staff as part of the pathway offer. These identified interventions will be assessed according to the APDR cycle, directed by the home-school and in some cases facilitated by Raedwald Trust staff and shared with the parents/carers.
There is a focus of live marking within all lesson, this then allowing students to receive quick, reactive feedback tackling any misconceptions and the opportunity to pupils to respond, verbally or through written responses in their books.
Progress across the week whilst at Raedwald is communicated to the home school via a weekly report. This report gives the home school a snapshot of attendance, learning progress as well as social and emotional progress against their predetermined targets.
