Parkside Academy School Commissioned Pathway

Raedwald Trust offers flexible, school-commissioned pupil pathways designed to strengthen inclusion within mainstream schools whilst meeting the individual needs of pupils experiencing barriers to learning, attendance or engagement.

Pathways are available for pupils from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 4 and can be commissioned in flexible blocks from 2 hours per week through to a full-time five-day provision, depending upon assessed need.

Every commissioned placement begins with a structured Induction Period, during which baseline assessments are completed to develop a comprehensive understanding of the pupil’s strengths, needs and barriers to successful inclusion. This process enables both the commissioning school and Raedwald Trust to make informed decisions about the most appropriate package of support.

Following induction, Raedwald Trust and the commissioning school will co-construct an individual pathway. This may consist of a single pathway or a bespoke combination of pathways to ensure provision is precisely matched to the pupil’s needs and desired outcomes.

Each pathway is delivered over a 12-week cycle and follows the Assess – Plan – Do – Review process, as follows:

  • Initial Induction and baseline assessment
  • Agreed outcomes and personalised pathway planning
  • Ongoing intervention and progress monitoring
  • Formal review at 6 weeks
  • End of pathway review at 12 weeks, including recommendations for next steps

Pathway Framework – All school commissioned pathways are built around four core strands:

1. Attendance Support

Supporting pupils to improve engagement with education by understanding barriers to attendance and developing sustainable strategies to increase participation.

Provision may include:

  • Attendance profiling and analysis
  • Reintegration planning
  • Graduated return support programmes
  • Parent and family engagement
  • Emotional barriers to attendance support
  • Partnership working with the commissioning school
  • Monitoring attendance trends and reviewing impact

2. Foundational Knowledge & Wider Assessments

Developing a clear understanding of each pupil’s learning profile through high-quality assessment and targeted intervention.

Provision may include:

  • Literacy and numeracy baseline assessment
  • Communication and language assessment
  • Cognition and learning assessments
  • SEMH screening
  • Sensory profiling
  • Identification of strengths and barriers
  • Personalised target setting
  • Progress monitoring and review

Assessment outcomes directly inform pathway design and intervention planning and ensure support remains evidence-based throughout the pathway.

 3. Enrichment & SEMH Support

Providing opportunities for pupils to develop confidence, resilience, emotional regulation, independence and positive relationships through carefully planned enrichment experiences.

Provision may include:

  • Emotional literacy
  • Self-regulation strategies
  • Confidence and resilience building
  • Social communication
  • Outdoor learning
  • Animal-assisted learning (where appropriate)
  • Creative activities
  • Life skills
  • Personal development
  • Preparing for successful participation within mainstream education

 4. Specific Curriculum Delivery

Delivering targeted curriculum provision where pupils require additional support to access learning or maintain academic progress.

Provision is individually planned and may include:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Foundation subjects
  • Functional skills
  • Examination preparation (where appropriate)
  • Personalised curriculum programmes linked to the commissioning school’s curriculum, if appropriate

Curriculum delivery is designed to complement, rather than replace, the home school’s curriculum and to support successful reintegration wherever possible.

A Flexible Offer

Every pupil’s pathway is unique. Rather than fitting pupils into predetermined programmes, Raedwald Trust works collaboratively with schools to design a personalised package that reflects assessed need. Some pupils may require intensive support within one pathway, whilst others may benefit from a blended offer across several pathways.

This flexible approach ensures provision remains responsive throughout the placement, with formal review points at six and twelve weeks enabling support to be adapted as progress is made and needs change.

The aim of every pathway is to improve outcomes for pupils, strengthen inclusion and enable successful participation within their mainstream school wherever possible.
