The Raedwald Trust curriculum is derived directly from the National Curriculum for all Key Stages. Programmes of study span from the Early Years to Year 11 and these identify the small steps that are required for pupils to secure knowledge appropriate to their YG, this is then translated into Curriculum Overviews where these steps are mapped across units of work. This is then used to shape weekly/daily planning which is written using the structure of the EDI framework. Policies are in place for all subjects across all pathways which identify what areas have been included and if/when any aspect if this has been consciously omitted.

The design and sequencing of the curriculum is either concentric or sequential. A concentric curriculum (revisited but taught explicitly) or sequential (chunked and taught once for mastery) dependant on the subject. Conscious decisions about subject delivery have been made to ensure long-term knowledge and acquisition is appropriate to the pupils’ age/stage of development so that both substantive and disciplinary knowledge is prioritised across all subject areas.
Within each academy there is a curriculum that is based on the appropriate age/stage of the pupil on admission. A key aspect of the identity of the Raedwald Trust is the Assessment Centre, which all pupils on all pathways access. Often pupils supported by the Raedwald Trust have had fragmented educational experiences and therefore the main premise of this is to gain an insight into their entry point to the proposed curriculum offer and a deeper understanding of any gaps within their foundational knowledge in key areas, such as reading fluency, transcription and spelling.
