Yr9/KS4 Haven HC Pathway Purpose: This pathway is designed for pupils who require carefully structured provision to ensure stability, continuity and progress. Pupils are placed on dual roll, maintaining a strong links with their home school.
The aim is to provide a safe, stable and supportive framework that addresses both academic and SEMH needs, while strengthening the child’s connection to their peers, routines and curriculum.
Timescales & Support
Placements typically last up to two years and timetables are co-constructed with the home and other professionals as required.
Support is highly flexible and may include:
- Daily attendance routines (e.g., start-of-day registration)
- Integration at social times with peers
- Supported access to mainstream lessons
- Small group or one-to-one teaching
- Pastoral or hub group support
- Identification and response to wider barriers, such as SEND, young carer responsibilities, financial hardship or home circumstances
Curriculum
The national curriculum remains the core entitlement. Raedwald staff work in partnership with the home school facilitate access to this curriculum.
Where additional needs are identified, Raedwald staff may deliver bespoke interventions, such as:
- Readers for Life (literacy)
- PE, Health and Wellbeing
- Life Essentials (SEMH, resilience, independence skills)
This balance of mainstream and targeted provision helps maintain progress while addressing wider needs.
Assessment
- Baseline induction (including Anxiety Toolkit) identifies push/pull factors.
- Progress is tracked across the placement and shared regularly with the home school, carers and social worker.
- Interventions are directed and reviewed via the Assess-Plan-Do-Review (APDR) cycle.
Outcomes
- Pupils remain securely connected to their home school.
- Academic progress and SEMH development are supported.
- Carers, schools and professionals are engaged in the process.
- Pupils are positioned for successful reintegration into mainstream or confident transition to their next educational stage.
