Mental Health First Aid

The Raedwald Trust are delighted to be offering Mental Health First Aid Training.

This training is delivered by MHFA England fully qualified Instructors delivering their
quality assured training packages.

What is Mental Health First Aid?

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an internationally recognised training course, designed to  teach people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health and provide help on a first aid basis.

At MHFA England we offer a range of courses tailored for people who teach, work, live with and care for young people aged 8 to 18. The courses can be attended by anyone from age 16 upwards. Each and every MHFA England course is delivered by a quality assured instructor.

Our MHFA England Instructors

Kate Kingsford

Kate Kingsford has over 20 years teaching experience across all Key Stages, teaching children ranging from ‘A’ level to Primary age. Kate has a wealth of knowledge and experience in a wide variety of issues which affect young people. She has worked extensively throughout her career enabling pupils to overcome potential barriers to their learning. Kate is an accredited Mental Health First Aider and leads the education provision at Ipswich Hospital.

Jade Storer

Jade has over 6 years’ experience working with vulnerable children, young people and their families.  She joined the Raedwald Trust to work within the Outreach team as a learning coach, supporting both children in care and outreach cohorts. Jade has always been keen to source further training which supports the mental health of children and young people.  Jade has recently trained to become a Youth MHFA instructor. Now that she has become accredited, she can support children, young people and the wider community furthermore and upskill other professionals in becoming Mental Health First Aiders.  

Alison Embley

Alison Embley has 35 years’ experience teaching in both mainstream and alternative provision at KS3/4. From 2000 to 2005 she was also Suffolk Healthy Schools co-ordinator (A joint national programme between the DfES and the Department of Health)  This involved working within the then Suffolk Advisory Service, supporting schools from KS1-4 to develop their PSHE programmes and deliver training for staff in both educational and health settings. Throughout Alison’s teaching career she has delivered core subjects and led on whole school implementation of PSHE programmes in a variety of schools. Through her daily practice she has acquired a wealth of experience in working with young people with a variety of mental health conditions. Alison is a MHFA England Member Instructor qualified to deliver the 2-day online and face to face training.
